Parkes is a railway station on the Broken Hill railway line in the western New South Wales city of Parkes, Australia. The station opened in 1893 [1] and is served by the Indian Pacific and Outback Explorer passenger trains. Parkes is also the junction point of the Stockinbingal–Parkes railway line and the Parkes–Narromine railway line which form a cross country route between Cootamundra on the Main South line and Werris Creek on the Main North line[2]. A railway station also served Parkes Racecourse between 1923 and 1937.[3]
The Xplorer to Broken Hill stops at the station on Monday and Tuesday afternoons heading back to Sydney. The twice weekly Indian Pacific between Sydney and Perth stops at the station on the way to Sydney on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Sauturday evenings to Perth.
